4-Week In-Person OR ZOOM Commercial Comedy Reel Program with Top NYC Casting Director Barry Shapiro + Live On-Set Filming!

First Time Ever! Get Real On-Set Commercial Comedy Filming Experience while rehearsing and then filming commercial comedy spots in our brand new film studio! 

Learn the ins and outs of commercial comedy acting with Top Casting Director Barry Shapiro and then write and film your own comedic commercial spots at our professional film studio! Barry will be helping you write the spots.

Over 3 Weeks you will be writing two 15 second comedic commercial spots that you will get to work on with Barry Shapiro and rehearse in-person on set. You will get to film the commercial spots on 6K cameras with our professional filmmaking team and you will have an opportunity to purchase a fully produced commercial acting reels for a heavily discounted rate upon completion of the course. 

Class Breakdown:

Class 1: During your first class you will learn the ins and outs of commercial acting with Barry Shapiro and start drafting your own commercial spots with Barry's help. Please note you will be writing 2 spots that will be 15 seconds long.

Class 2: Finalize and rehearse your Commercial spots while being coached by Barry!

Class 3: Filming Day! You will be filming both of your 15 second commercial spots on 6K cameras with our professional filmmaking team while being coached by Barry Shapiro! You will have a chance to film in 2 different film sets (hospital room, diner, bar, police office etc). You will be filming on set with our professional filmmaking team including the DP/Director, Sound Engineer as well as Barry himself. Please note the shooting day will be 4 hours long however after filming your spot you're welcome to leave the studio but you will need to return 1-2 hours later to film your second spot. You can also stay in the studio while other students are filming.

Upon completion of this intensive you will have an opportunity to purchase your commercial reel that will include 2 15 second commercial spots fully produced and edited. Please note you will not be getting footage from this class since everything will be shot on 6K cameras and footage is too large to be transferred. You will get your fully produced commercial reel (2 15 second spots) 3-4 weeks from the shooting day if you purchase the add-on.

Barry is Owner of Herman & Lipson Casting. He has been with Herman & Lipson for over 37 years, casting over 8000 commercials- both voiceover and on camera—for products such as L'Oreal, ESPN, Advil, Verizon, Toy R Us, and many more. He casts commercials all around the world, as well as film, television, and theatre.

Class Schedule:

PLEASE NOTE: You will have a week in between class 1 and class 2 that way you have time to work on your spots and memorize them prior to class 2. Please come fully memorized and wardrobe/hair & make up ready to the shoot on Saturday, April 12th. 

PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer refunds under any circumstances, but offer full credit that you can apply toward any other class or demo reel if you cancel this program 72 hours prior to your scheduled filming date. We will not provide credit if a minimum of 72 hours notice is not given or for any no-shows. Please read our Studio Policy for more information.
